This is the month you have been waiting for It is going to cool off (and there will be treats at the end of the month) Once we start to get a few cooler days and nights you can go after the weeds in the grass with good old fashion Attrazine for St.Augustine. Attrazine works usually within 2-3 weeks and has a pre emergent factor to it to stop more weeds from germinating. It has been used for years and still works great, most of your professional companies will be using it in some form or another and should be starting with it this month. This is also the first month that if you live in an area with fertilizer restriction you will be able to use Nitrogen and Phosperous. Expect most companies to be hitting the lawns and plant with both. Phosperous will help the plants bloom and your cool weather plants will be starting to bloom soon.

If you are a do it yourselfer you probably have not been abiding by the fertilizer restrictions and have  green grass that has quite a few weeds at this point. Be patient and it will pay off. If you can wait until it cools down you will be able to use a weed and feed product that should get rid of the weeds and give you a strong healthy lawn for the winter.

Tip Attrazine is available in a concentrate so you can use it in a spot treatment application.
